Navratri festival begins in Marathwada



Eleven day-long Navratri festival begins with 'Ghatsthapna' (installation of the idol of the Goddess) at two 'Shaktipeets' in Marathwada region one at Mahur's 'Renuka Mata' in Nanded district and in 'Maa Tuljabhavai 'at Tuljapur in Osmanabad districts with great enthusiasm, today. Mahur and Tuljapur goddess are the two 'Shaktipeets' out of 52 across in the country. Renuka Mata Temple, Mahur sources said, the nine-day Shardiya Navratri Utsav of Sri Renuka Devi to be celebrated from October 1 to 13 at Mahur Gadh began with the Ghatsthapana ceremony this afternoon with Mahaarati.

During the Navratri the Renuka Devi idol will be dressed in new 'Paithani'. About 15 to 20 lakhs devotees from various parts of the state as well as from the neighbouring states are expected to visit the temple for 'Darshan' of Goddess Renuka during the festival,they said. The temple authorities has also decorated lightning in entire temple premises and installed CCTV cameras in temple premises as well, Metal dictators and screen was also set up on the steps around the temple.

Police has lightened beefed up the security arrangements with additional policemen with the help of temple guards and revenue departments employees to avoid any untoward incident during the festival. The temple will be open from 0400 hrs to 0000 hrs for a darshan during the festival period, they added. Reports from Tuljapur said, the' Shardiya Navratostav' began after the Ghatsthapana and worship this afternoon by district collector Prashant Narnavare and his wife Priyanka, said temple authority. The temple is decorated this year by LED lightning with latest technology.

In view of stampade incident at Tuljapur temple during Navaratri three years back, tight security blanket has been seen around the temple to provide security to the pilgrimage during the festival period. About lakhs of Devotees of Maabhavani who were left with 'Bhavanijot' towards their respective places for Ghatstapana after having a darshan of Tuljabahavai with religion chanting like 'Aai Raja Udo Udo'.  Reports from Ambejogai tehsil of Latur district said, nine days festival begins with that Ghatstapana at 'Ma Yogeshswari' temple with Ghatastapana by the Deputy collector Shivkumar Swami this morning.


In Aurangabad the Danve family performed a 'pooja' at 'Tulja Bhavai Temple' early morning at the goddess temple in Karnapura area in the city. Similarly the Ghatsthapana and worship was also performed at temples in and around the city and inthe district including 'Harsiddi Devi' at Harsul, replica of 'Mahur Renuka Mata' temples situated at Beed by pass road and Hudco locality respectively where thousands of devotees turned up this morning. Police have made a tight security arrangement in the entire region to avoid any untoward incidents during the festival said police.
