Tributes paid to ex Union minister late Gopinath Munde on his 68th birth anniversary #aurangabad

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Dec 12 (UNI) The entire Marathwada region on Tuesday paid glowing tributes to former Union minister and BJP mass leader late Gopinath Munde on his 68th birth anniversary by organising functions at various places in the region. On the occasion, a series of functions had been organised to highlight the contribution of Mr Munde towards strengthening the party base during his tenure in the region and state. In Beed district, the celebration was held in a subdued manner at Gopinath Gad, in the wake of a blast on December 8 in Vaijnath Sugar factory at Pangari near Parli of the district, where tributes were paid to the five dead workers who succumbed to their injuries in Latur hospital after blast.

The ‘Gopinath Gad’, constructed as a memorial of late Munde, is spread on 18 acre land in the premises of same factory where the blast occurred and it was hometown of Mr Munde. As per the schedule, state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti were to attend the main function but it was cancelled due to the blast at factory, said Dr Bhagwat Karad, state secretary of BJP.

However, Mr Fadnavis conveyed his message over phone to those who came for 'darshan' (pay respects) to late Munde at his 'samadhi' (memorial) and also made announcement of the start of the ‘Goipnath Munde Sugarcane Cutter Workers Mandal’ from today onwards, Dr Karad added. Meanwhile, thousands of followers from across the region reached the Gopinath Gad with ‘rath’ and ‘dindis’ to pay respects to their departed leader.

State Women & Child Welfare Minister and elder daughter of Mr Munde, Pankaja Munde-Palve and her younger sister Dr Pritam Munde-Khade, who is also an MP from Beed, accepted tributes to their father from the people, in the presence of state ministers Mahadev Jankar and Dilip Kamble.
