Aurangabad's new District Collector - Vikram Kumar

Known in the administrative circles as an upright officer, Mira Bhayandar civic chief, Vikram Kumar, was transferred to Aurangabad as District Collector. Though the transfer has been shown as routine, it was untimely because, Kumar had joined the MBMC in July-2011, and was yet to complete his three-year term. He will be replaced by Dy Secretary, UD, Suresh Kakani, who is expected to take charge on Monday. A low profile, IAS officer, Kumar was not only instrumental in taming various irregularities in the various civic departments, he had fearlessly taken on the might of the powerful builder lobby. From introducing GPS-based technology to track movement of garbage vans and public transport system, paperless “E-offices”, on-line portals to transparent e-tendering process, Kumar had a vision for the city.

The new district collector, Vikram Kumar, said that he would make all efforts to complete the projects like Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Tourism Development Authority on priority basis which will prove crucial in the development of Aurangabad.
