BJP to emerge powerful party in India: Swamy

Former law minister and senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Dr Subramaniam Swamy today said that people are losing confidence in alliance governments and observed that instead, they are opting for the government of the single party as witnessed in recent Lok Sabha elections. Talking to reporters here, Dr Swamy, who was in city today, said that BJP will emerge a powerful party in the country with the people accepting its ideology and ditching the regional parties in the country.

On the break up of 25-year-old alliance with Shiv Sena in the state, he noted that it was unfortunate but pointed 'I will do my best to bring the two together again after counting of votes get over tomorrow.' On the occasion, he recalled his association with Sena chief late Bal Thackeray and his family members and said that he still remembers the day when Mr Thackeray had insisted him to deliver a speech on Shivaji Park ground when he was an MP from Mumbai. 'I highly respect the Thackeray family who is fighting for 'Hindutva' agenda,' he said.

Expressing serious concern over rising terror-releated activities on the border with Pakistan, Dr Swami held the Pakistan spy agency Inter Services Intelligence solely responsible for allegedly provoking the Islamic jihadi outfits like al-Qaeda and others by spreading terrorism. He called for curbing such activities. On former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa being granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in the Rs 65 crore disproportionate assets (DPA) case on health ground yesterday, he said that court has directed to furnish the details within 60 days, otherwise, her bail would stand cancelled.

Dr Swami also referred to the National Herlald issue and termed it as another scam. He accused the Gandhi family and others of being involved in it. BJP leader informed that the case will come up for hearing on December nine and said all the accused including Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi will have to remain present before the trial court. Commenting on mystery death of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar, Dr Swami demanded that it should be investigated by CBI to bring the real picture before the people.

On the issue of black money, he said that Rs 120 lakh crore were lying in foreign bank accounts abroad and added that to bring that money back to India, government should make necessary amendments in law. VHP district leader Rajesh Jain, Akhil Vakil and Jagdish Shetty were also present during the briefing.
