Campaigining in 46 Marathwada constituencies reaches final stages

With just two-and-a-half-days remaining for the Oct 15 state assembly election, campaigning in Marathwada's 46 constituencies has reached it final stages as most top political party leaders have finished addressing major rallies at various locations in the region. Parties including the BJP-RPI-SSS-RSP, Shiv Sena, Congress, NCP,MNS, MIM, BSP, SP and left parties are all contesting the election after the alliances between BJP-SS and Cong-NCP broke over seat sharing issue.

The five major parties BJP, SS, Cong, NCP and MNS, had organized huge rallies in each of the region's eight districts, headed by the party's prominent leaders in the area and slung allegations and counter allegations against each other. Spearheading BJP's campaign was PM Narendra Modi, who addressed rallies at Beed, Aurangabad and Hingoli in the last week and received tremendous response from the crowds during his speeches. He was seen talking about the party's development agenda for the state, corruption and cleanliness issues in the rallies and is likely to address two more rallies in the region tommorow.

However Modi's decision to campaign for his party in the state election drew severe flak from friend-turned-foe Shiv Sena, the MNS and long time enemies Cong and NCP, who criticised him for neglecting duties in Delhi and his silence over Pakistan's violation of ceasefire on the International Border (IB), which has led to several soldiers and civilian's deaths.  Besides the PM, BJP top brass including party president Amit Shah, union minister Nirmala Sitaraman, Uma Bharti, Raoshaeb Danve, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari, Smriti Irani, Rajnath Singh, Shahnawaz Hussien, Goa CM Manohar Parrikar, former Karnataka CM BS Yudirappa, Jagdish Settar, Rajasthan CM Vasundara Raje Scindia and state BJP leaders Vinod Tawade, Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Khadse and Pankaja Munde have campaigned for party candidates in the region.
