Capmpaign fever in Marathwada constituencies hots up

Campaigning activities in Marathwada's 46 assembly constituencies have picked up with elections rallies of prominent leaders from all major political parties. 770 candidates remain in the fray from the 46 segments, besides the Beed Lok Sabha seat by-election, both to be held on Oct 15. With just seven days left for campaigning across the state the Mahayuti (BJP-RPI-SSS-RSP), Shiv Sena, Congress, NCP, MNS, MIM, BSP, SP and left parties have started hectic campaign preparations after each having to contest this election independently following break up of the major alliances.

AAP has decided not to contest the state assembly election. The five major parties -- BJP, SS, Cong, NCP and MNS -- are organising major rallies to be headed by their party's prominent leaders in the region's eight districts and allegations and counter-allegations are been swung at each other during the period, with most leaders targeting PM Modi in their rallies. Modi has already addressed two record-breaking rallies at Beed and Aurangabad, in support of Mahayuti candidates, and spoke about development, corruption and cleanliness in his speeches. Party sources have further indicated that he may address more rallies in the region in the coming days. Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitaraman, Raosaheb Danve, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundara Raje Scindia, Pradesh President Devendra Fadanvis and Vinod Tawade have also addressed rallies in these constituencies and will addres more rallies in coming days.

Meanwhile, in the NCP camp, party supremo Sharad Pawar has toured the region and addressed several rallies in most districts of Marathwada. He attacked Modi for his anti-farmer decisions in his speeches. Besides Pawar, his nephew and former deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and daughter Supriya Sule have also addressed rallies in Jalna, Aurangabad, Osmanabad and Beed districts.
