CM to visit Aurangabad to review situation in Marathwada

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be visiting the city on Nov 27 to attend a review meeting at the Divisional Commissionerate to discuss water scarcity in the region. According to the Divisional Commissioner Sanjiv Jaiswal, Fadnavis will arrive in the city and first interact with all elected MLAs from the region to discuss the issue of scarcity which is prevailing in all eight districts of the region. The region suffered from acute insufficient rainfall in the monsoon and is now experiencing unseasonal rainfall, both of which have damaged crops and horticulture in the area and also caused shortage of drinking water. He will then also attend a review meet with all concerned officials and discuss the issue and measures to be taken up to tackle the situation in the coming days.

About 8004 villages out of 8553 in the region have below 50 paise Kharif produce due to the recent unseasonal rain. Heavy losses were suffered in the state of crops, horticulture and other produce due to this. The region recorded a mere 53 per cent average rainfall this monsoon, while had held back farmers from sowing even their Rabbi crops. Drinking water shortage is also worsening day by day and the district administrations have started supplying water to affected villages and hamlets through tankers.
