Tributes paid to Dr BR Ambedkar in Marathwada

Leaders of various political parties today paid floral tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar, the Chairman of the Indian Constitution drafting committee, on the occasion of his 58th death anniversary (Mahaparinirwan Day) in the city as well as across Marathwada. Various programmes were organized to pay tributes to the Dalit leader by the various factions of dalit community across the region on the occassion. In Aurangabad city, various Dalit outfits, organizations and political leaders paid homage at Bhadkal gate where they garlanded the statue of late Dr Ambedkar.

Programmes like blood doniation camps, candle march, padyatras, tree plantation drives and special lectures were organized inside the campus of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. Meanwhile, BJP, Shiv Sena and Vishwa Hindu Parishad celebrated today as 'Shourya Diwas' by performing 'Mahaartis' in Aurangpura and Gulmandi localities in the city on the occasion of demolition of the Babri Masjid. While, Muslim organizations in the city observed 'Black Day' today in protest of the demolition of the Babri structure. Police have made heavy bandobast to avoid any untoward incident in the city as well as in the region during the day. Meanwhile, sources from across Marathwada said that tributes were paid to Dr Ambedkar and Mahaparinirvan day was observed.
