Keep DMIC in forefront to attract industries: Minister

Industries minister Subhash Desai on Wednesday asserted the need for communicating details of the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor`s (DMIC) Aurangabad plan to attract big investors and industries. "This will help remove unemployment on a considerable scale," he said. Desai also said that he was exploring possibility of a meeting of industries in the city to highlight importance of the city in the backdrop of the DMIC project.

Addressing a meeting of entrepreneurs and officials on Wednesday evening, the industry minister said a big industrial conclave in Aurangabad will help highlight the importance of the city to ensure that major industries come and set up their units in the region. He pointed that Marathwada is an industrially backward region and efforts have to be made to bring it on the industrial map of the state. He also urged officials to make deliberate efforts to solve problems faced by the industries.

The meeting discussed a number of issues including implementation of the incentive-schemes for the entrepreneurs, reservation of 30% industrial plots for micro, small industries as well as for women entrepreneurs. The meeting also discussed possibility of reducing prices of industrial plots, tackling encroachments and providing good health, road and water services. The meeting was attended by MP Chandrakant Khaire, MLAs Prashant Bamb, Sanjay Shirsath, Atul Save, entrepreneur Bharat Motinge, MIDC`s regional officer A M Shinde and chief engineer M P Puranik.
