Condolence meeting held for R R Patil in Aurangabad

The urn containingashes of former state home minister late Raoshaeb RamraoPatil was brought here today and kept for 'darshan' at ShivChhatrapati College situated at N-3 Cidco locality. Patil, a senior NCP leader who was popularly known as'Aaba' in political circles, died of oral cancer at LilavatiHospital in Mumbai on February 16. He was elected fromTasgaon Assembly constituency in Sangali district of western Maharsahtra. After its arrival, the urn was kept for darshan on thecollege premises. An all-party condolence meeting was held this evening,in which MLC Satish Chavan, Vaijapur MLA BhausahebChikatgaonkar, NCP district chief Sudhakar Sonawane andparty city chief Mustaq Ahmed, along with other party membersas well as people from different walks of life, were presentat the condolence meeting. They paid glowing tributes to the departed leader andrecalled Patil's contribution to state politics duringhis tenure as rural development minister, deputy chiefminister and home minister in the state cabinet from 1999 to 2014. He had to step down as home minister after hiscontroversial remarks made in the aftermath of 26/11 terrorattacks in Mumbai.
