SAIL Depot to be set up to service need of local industries: Anant Gite

Union Heavy Industries Minister Anant Geete today said the depot of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and plant of Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) would be set up in Marathwada region. He was speaking on the occasion of valedictory function of the dedication of Centre of Excellence (COE) hall at the Marathwada Auto Cluster (MAC), alongside a three-day industrial exhibition at the Waluj MIDC area in Aurangabad. The theme of the exhibition is aligned with the focus of 'Make in India', and has been named as Destination Marathwada for Make in India'. At least 100 companies from Marathwada region, including major and minor industries have set up their stalls in the exhibition displaying their products. Mr Geete said after the changes at the Central as well as state government level, things were moving in the right direction for the state as well as country at large. As a heavy industries minister, he said, he would extend his full support for the development of the industrial sector of Marathwada region, and overall development of Maharashtra.

In context to the MAC, Aurangabad city emerged as a major auto hub due to several big and medium industries situated here, which have requirement for sizable quantities of steel. Keeping this in mind, and acting on the requests of the local entrepreneurs, the SAIL Depot would be set up, to enable the local industry to fulfill their steel requirements. In view of cheaper crude oil prices prevailing in the future, the Heavy Industries Ministry has decided to undertake two important initiatives. They are Electromotive Transmission project of Rs 14,000 crore and the Declared and Capital Goods Sector initiative of Rs 930 crore in which five clusters will be set up across the country.
