Infrastructure Needs of the Cluster in Marathwada
  • The industrial production and economic activities in the region could further be boasted if an advanced infrastructure, facilitating precision tooling, prototyping, development and manufacturing operations, could be set up in the region
  • The proposed facility would enhance quality of the industrial output from the region, curtail the cost of production, increase the industrial production making the industry globally competitive in the long run
  • Industrial units in Aurangabad consume a large quantity of sheet metal which the industry procures from Mumbai, Nagpur and Raipur. A Centralised Raw Material Bank (CRMB) set up at Aurangabad would reduce the input costs of sheet metal to the SME enterprises in the region by procuring the sheet metal in bulk. As a value added service to the industry, the sheet metal would be cut as per the requirement of the industrial users. The CRMB would free up the storage space required at the premises of the individual industrial unit as well as increase its collaborative bargaining power
  • Moulding, pressing, turning and fitting are important operations in tool making. Currently, these operations are outsourced by the industry because the machinery set up required for these operations is highly capital intensive. The Indo German Tool Room (IGTR) has established facility at Aurangabad which benefiting the industry in the region. However, there is a need for additional capacity with modern machineries as proposed in the Project
  • In order to cater to the requirement of export market, Marathwada Auto Cluster (MAC) would need facility for exhibition, product display, business centre, etc. enhancing and strengthening market linkages (f) Understanding these gaps in the current industrial infrastructure set-up, CMIA initiated the process of establishing a Advanced Tooling Centre, utilising modern technology, along with a CRMB with the participating of local industry
  • IL&FS Cluster Development Initiative Limited (IL&FS Clusters) has prepared this Detailed Project Report (DPR) on behalf of CMIA for the purpose of project planning and implementation and also for seeking assistance under IIUS

Proposed Building "Center of Excellence"
This building is an common learning and exhibition center for industrialists in Aurangabad. It has two huge exhibition halls which can also be used for playing badminton in leisure time. It has an 250 capacity multipurpose hall, cafeteria, training and research centers, class rooms, library, electronic and computer labs. The special feature of this structure is it has been designed as climate responsive taking into consideration wind flow and sun path. Landscape becomes integral part of this building and flows through the structure. interesting Sky bridges and passages look into the central open spill over space having designed water bodies which is underneath the raised multipurpose hall.
