Security stepped up in Marathwada for Ananta Chaturdashi

Security has been tightened in the Marathwada region to avert any untoward incident during the Ganesh idol immersion today on occasion of Ananta Chaturdashi. In Aurangabad, immersion procession has been started this afternoon, under the heavy security with Mahaarthi at traditional Sansthan Ganesh temple situated in the old city. As per the tradition, Sansthan Ganesh temple's Ganesh idols is the first in procession for immersion to honor followed by other mandals idol. 

During the past ten days several programmes including, Dhol compilations, Wrestling, Bhandaras (free meals to all), Bhajan and Kirtans, Dramas blood donations, competitions, culture programs, Quiz programs, tree plantation and water harvesting were organized by apex body of Ganesh Mahasangh and other Ganesh mandals in the city and around the city. Apart from this some of the mandals curtailed their expenses this year due to the drought situation and donated their fund to the drought relief fund and Shasthan Ganesh temple donated fodder to cattle shed in affected parts in the region. 

Civic authorities has made arrangements at eight places for the immersion of Ganesh idols in and around the city. The city police have set fixed points in different parts in the city, including the Hudco-Cidco areas. CCTV cameras have been installed on the routes of the city, sources said. Above 2000 security personnel’s, including mobile cars/vans and officers, have been alerted to ensure that the procession is peaceful. Police commissioner Amitesh Kumar will be keeping a close watch on movements in the city during the procession. 

The DCPs, ACPs, PIs, APIs-PSIs, companies of SRPF and CRPF, home guards and constabulary staffers will move with the immersion procession, police added. Reports from rest of the districts said security has been similarly beefed up for immersion of Lord Ganesha in the region. Lakhs of devotees in the city and the Marathwada region will bid Lord Ganesh Adieu this evening with the 10-day-long festival coming to an end.
