Four idols stolen from Jain temple in Maharashtra

Four idols of Gods and Goddesses from a Jain temple, situated at Vitthalnagar area in Cidco locality here, were stolen by unidentified thieves. The incident came to light when a priest of Sankathar Parshwanath Digambar Jain Mandir who came around 0630 hrs to open the temple as usual, found that all the four idols of the temple were missing. When he tried to search the idols on the premises of the temple, he saw that thieves had broken the backsidewindow grill and entered in the temple. They also tried to break the lockers of the temple but could not succeed in it, police said.

On hearing the news of the theft, prominent leaders of the Jain samaj and Mukundwadi police team visited the spot. In view of two to three earlier thefts, the temple authority had installed CCTV cameras in the premises of the temple. The CCTV footage shows a small boy breaking the window and entering the temple, they said.
Mukundwadi police has registered a theft case against unidentified thieves and further investigation is on, police added.
