'Mahishasurmardini' Mobile phone application for women launched in Aurangabad

National president of BJP Mahila Morcha, Vijaya Rahatkar here today launched an Android-based mobile phone application, called 'Mahishasurmardini', with an aim to check crimes against women. The app, designed and developed by Renukadas Deshmukh, an MIT alumnus and noted IT businessman of the city, provides information in regional language (Marathi) about Help line of police stations,Damini Help Centre, acts about woman's protection and tips on self protection. The application was launched in the presence of inspector general of police Vishwas Nangre-Patil, Prof Munish Sharma, director general, MIT Group; Dileep Dharurkar, senior journalist, principal Dr Santosh Bhosle and logo designer Sunita Deshmukh.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Rahatkar said, "Women were honoured in India since ancient ages, however, the society has been deviated from the core culture. Hence, the ill attitude towards women is creating panic across the nation."

Education to girls and application of technology in creating awareness shall resolve these problems, she hoped and expressed that the public utility app like Mahishasurmardini shall address such problems effectively and efficiently. Mr Nangre-Patil also spoke on the occasion. Mr Deshmukh said that Mahishasurmardini app can be downloaded from Google play store at free-of-cost. Once downloaded, net service is not needed to access information, he added.
