Mah Assembly Speaker Bagade inaugurates Suryakumbh in Aurangabad


Suryakumbh, the worlds largest Solar Cooking Festival for promoting use of Renewable Energy Sources amongst school students, was inaugurated by MaharashtraAssembly Speaker Haribhau Bagade at MIT College ground on Beed bypass road here. The SuryaKumbh is hosted by the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture (CMIA) in association with Simplified Technologies.

The project marks the 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, which is celebrated as Young day in India. Speaking on this occasion, Mr Bagade said solar energy will benefit the Marathwada region as well as the country by saving fuel and protecting environment. He lauded the efforts of organisers for hosting such events here. Aurangabad MP Chandrakanat Khaire, city police commissioner Amitesh Kumar, state education commissioner Purushotam Bhapkar, divisional commissioner Umakant Dangat, CMIA president Ashis Garde,Munish Sharma and Mukul Kurkarni were also present on this occasion.

Suryakumbh was witnessed by 5,760 students from over 30 local schools across the Aurangabad district and about 330 trainers guided the students on innovative solar oven -- The Solar Chef. A technical team of observers from Guinness Book of World Records was also present to register Aurangabads name in Guinness Book of World Records for one-time huge gathering for solar cooking.
