'Sharangdev Samaroh' from Jan 15-18



Mahatma Gandhi Mission Sangeet Academy (MAHAGAMI) has organised a festival on the MGM premises here from January 15-18. MAHAGAMI is an internationally renowned Aurangabad-based art organisation. The festival, called 6th 'Sharangdev Samaroh', has been named after legendary musicologist Sharangadev. 

Its Director Parwati Dutta said in a statement that Music & Dance Festival & SARNGADEVA PRASANGA (Seminar) has earned the reputation of being one of the region of Marathwada in Maharashtra which caters to the artistic and academic quests of rasikas and music and dance-aspirants every year. A host of scholars, gurus and musicologists enlighten the event.

Besides this, 'Sarangadeva Samman', a national award instituted by Dutta, is conferred upon a great guru or scholar in the field of traditional Indian art every year. "This year, awards will be given to the great Bharatanatyam Guru, Thinker and choreographer Padmabhushan C V Chandrashekhar," Ms Dutta added.
