Conviction ratio up by about 32-35 per cent: Dixit


Director General of Police (DGP) of Maharashtra Pravin Dixit today claimed the ratio of punishment related to criminal cases has increased as compared to the previous year. Interacting with media persons here this evening, Mr Dixit, who is in city since last three days to take review of law and order situation in the Marathwada region, said the ratio of punishment of accused has gone up by about 32 to 35 per cent at present as compared to 10 per cent in previous years. 

The police department will use modern technology including mobile vans and also seek the help of forensic labs to solve the pending cases, he said. The Director General further said in serious cases, police will record the First Information Report of the complainant on the video camera so that it can subsequently be produced in the court as proof against the accused. Talking about the growing activities of Islamic State in the state, Mr Dixit said that the entire world has been affected due to their activities and appealed to the young generation not to fall prey to their ideologies.
