Mass marriage in Aurangabad on Apr 16


As many as 244 couples of all regions, will tie a nuptial knot here at Ayodhyanagari ground in presence of state Governor Ch Vidhyasagar Rao and Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on April 16 . In Februaryr, nearly 333 mass marriages were organised in drought-affected Parbhani district by Shiv Sena under the 'Shivsena Pramukh Balasaheb Thackeray Kanyadan Yojna'

Addressing a press conference here today, Chandrkant Khaire, Aurangabad MP said that all necessary arrangements are being made for the event, to be attended by Mr Rao, Sena presindet Uddhav Thackeray, Gurdian Minister Ramdas Kadam, Rajkumar Dhoot (MP) and Vinod Ghosalkar. Marathwada is reeling under a severe drought since the last three years.

The Sena president who made his visit to the affected parts in the region and made an announcement of 'Shivsena Pramukh Balasaheb Thackeray Kanyadan Yojna', shouldered the responsibility of mass marriage, said Mr Khaire. "We have received 291 total marriage proposals for mass marriage, of them 244 were found liable as per the marriage rules, in which 194 couples are from Hindu community, 42 belong to Buddha community and eight are from Muslim community from across the Aurangabad district and their marriages will be performed as per their religious rituals. "For that, we have engaged 51 Brahmins, 11 Bantejis and eight moulavis., he added.

"On behalf of Shiv Sena, we will provides articles worth Rs one lakh to each couple, including saris for Brides, safari dress for groom, watches, gold ornaments to bride as per their religion and necessary household 76 utensils. "Apart from this, all of the guests from each side will be provided meals at the marriage venue," he added. Those present during the press briefing included district chief Ambadas Danve, Pradeep Jaiswal, Nandakumar Ghodle, Bandu Oak, Narendra Trivadi, Anna Mane, Raju Vaidya and all the office bearers of the sena.
