Rafiq Shaikh becomes first policeman from Aurangbad to scale Mt Everest

Police Constable Rafiq Shaikh attached with Aurangbad Rural Police in Marathwada region of Maharashtra successfully scaled the Mount Everest in his third attempt. Left for his mission on April 4, he was successful in his attempt yesterday, after one and half months. Reports about Mr Shaikh successfully climbing the Mount Everest reached the Rural Police headquarters here yesterday, said sources.

Born in a small village of the Aurangbad district, Mr Shaikh had failed to climb the world's tallest mountain peak twice due to natural calamities and predicaments thereafter.Soon after the news broke out about his success, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis congratulated him and posted Mr Shaikh's photograph on his social networking website twitter.
Posting Mr Shaikh's image on his own twitter page, Mr Fadnavis wrote, ''Such a proud moment! Our Aurangabad Police Constable becomes the first policeman from Maharashtra to scale Mount Everest!'' He also expressed his desire to meet and talk to Mr Shaikh soon. City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar also congratulated Mr Shaikh for his effort. Superintendent of Police of Aurangabad, Navinchandra Reddy also congratulated Mr Shaikh for his great achievement and expressed that he has made entire police force of the state proud of him.

While reacting to Mr Shaikh's success, his happy parents remarked that his hard work, determination and self-confidence helped realise his dream.
