ICC will be in Aurangabad : Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given assurance to MLC Satish Chavan that there is no move to shift the proposed International Convention Centre (ICC) to Nagpur which was approved for Aurangabad. Mr Chavan who is MLC from Marathwada Graduate constituency recently met the state Mr Fadnavis and submitted a memorandum regarding this.
A statement issued by him said that, in 2012 the previous Congress-NCP led state government had given a nod to set up ICC centre in Shendra MIDC area here under the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project, but since last the two days, the news of shifting the ICC to Nagpur was appeared in a section of Media.

Citing the example of Indian Institute of Management (IMM), which was sanctioned in Aurangabad but was also shifted to Nagpur, Mr chavans said. Even after the declaration of School of Planning Architecture (SPA) inAurangabad one and-half-year-ago, no information has been reached to the concerned department. 

Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre also shifted to Nagpur and National Law University which was also sanctioned, was yet to start, Mr Chavan said in his memorandum. He appealed to the Chief Minister that if the ICC was shifted to Nagpur, it will be injustice to the people of Marathwada region.

However, Mr Fadnavis has clarified that there is no move to shift the ICC centre at Nagpur, added Mr Chavan.
