CBI-ACB arrests Aurangabad airport director for accepting bribe

Central Bureau of Investigation and Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBI-ACB) wing of Pune today arrested Aurangabad airport director Alok Varshney for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 as the first installment out of the total demand of alleged bribe of Rs 70,000 from a complainant. The team of CBI-ACB led by Superintendent of Police, CBI, M R Kadole arrived from Pune to Aurangabad yesterday and started their secret mission to initiate the action against Varshney at the airport.
After their raid at the airport, they took him to a guest house, where the team questioned him and his wife for about seven hours last night and carried out searches at the official premises and office of Aurangabad airport director till this morning. Sources further said seized documents and other materials from the director's possession would be scanned. The CBI officials also maintained that the airport director recently came under watch after complaint against him was received with specific inputs about the alleged corrupt activities.
