Aurangabad records highest rainfall this year


The Mararthwada region has registered the highest rainfall of 102 per cent and 88.89 of annual rainfall till date, reports said. The monsoon showers have been lashing eight districts of Marathwada, since the last evening. The region was facing drought since last four years.Reports from the respective districts stated that therewas 27.85 mm average rainfall recorded in the region during the last 24 hours. With this, the region has received 692 mm rainfall so far, which is the average 102 per cent of expected rainfall and 88.89 annual rainfall in the region.

Several projects taken under the Jalyukat Shivar schemes, were now filling up and some were overflowing, which may help to increase ground water levels and wells and also helpful to the coming Rabbi crops and problem of drinking water would resolved in future.Following heavy rainfall, crops like Urid, jawar and Soyabean have damaged in the region. The highest rainfall of 55.59 mm was recorded in drought prone Beed district, while the lowest rainfall of 2.73 mm was recorded in Aurangabad district.

Osmanabad district 55 mm, Latur 31 mm, Parbhani 26 mm, Nanded 22 mm,Hingoli 20 and 8 mm in Jalna district, reports added.
