Devotees celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi in Marathwada region

The 11-day 'Ganesh Chaturthi' festival of Lord Ganesha is being celebrated today in entire the Marathwada region comprising eight districts with enthusiasm and religious fervour. The festival starts with the devotees taking the idols of lord Ganesha from markets for installation at their homes and Ganesh mandals premises with chanting as' Ganpathi Bappa Moraya' and ' Aala Re Aala Ganpati Aala'

Heavy rush were witnessed in city markets areas and Hudco Cidco localities on this occasion for purchasing idols and pooja materials. Huge and long pandols and stages have been erected on various streets by the Ganesh mandals in entire the region.
In Aurangabad the festival was began with the 'Mahararthi' at the Traditional 90 years old tradition Sansthan Ganesh Temple situated at old city area who is also known as 'Gramdaivat'of the city where late Bal Gangadhar Tilak who had also visited where the festival begins with mass 'Ganesh Aratervashish' this morning largely attended by the devotes and others. The Sanstan also organized several programmes including health camps, Daily Bhandara (free meals for all), awareness campaign , blood donation camps and Dipostav during the ten days according to the Sanstan ganpati trustte member Prafulla Malani. The apex body of the Ganesh Mandals in the city 'Shri Ganesh Mahasangh Ustav Samiti' celebrating the festival on a grand Scale and also organised among the various programmes are rangoli and drawing competitions, tree plantation, exhibition of historic coins, distribution of books and notebooks to needy students, sword competition, drum troops competition, Modak and Laddu-making competition, wrestling and street shows said that the Ustav Samithi president Abhijit Deshmukh.

Meanwhile, Police has strengthened security in view of the Ganesh festival in the city to check anti-social elements and avert any untoward incident. Anti-teasing squads and Charlis have been also formed to dealt anti social elements and criminals during the festival period, police said.

However, several social organisations has came forwards and created awareness among the society about to opt installing eco-friendly ganesh idols during the festival to keeping balance of environments for that several worsjop has been organized at various places and trained to student and other to make eco friendly idols. The reports also reaching here from the rest of the districts of the Mararthwada region stated that celebration of the Ganesh Chaturthi is going peacefully.

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Sep 3  The Aurangabad Ganesh Mahasangh, an all-party association, today organised a special workshop at Garkheda Parisar here to encourage public Ganesh Mandals to use eco-friendly idols of Lord Ganesh during the ten-day-long 'Ganeshotsav' festival which is set to commence from  September 5.

Addressing a joint press conference along with all-party members of Mahasangh, Abhijit Deshmukh, president of the Mahasangh, along with founder president Pruthviraj Pawar, said during the festival, the Mahasangah has organised several programmes including cultural programmes and competitions to encourage local talent.
