Water storage remains grimin Marathwada region

Even after monsoon has been completed within period of three months the present live water storage situation is not satisfactory of 843 water dams , including major, medium, minor and KT weirs situated in the backward Marathwada region which was comprising eight district presently showing combine 25 percent live water storage in it. According to the latest statistic showing by the water resources departments stated that, due to the scanty rainfall in past three to four consecutive years all the dams could not filled up considerably most of them has been dried.
This year rain has been starts as positive mood in July month but again experienced 25-day long dry spell in month of August and now high hops from the current months. So far the region recorded 62 per cent average annual rainfall in the region. There are 11 major dams in the Aurangabad division. Of them Jayakwadi biggest one in the region holding 65 per cent live stock followed by Nimma terna 70 per cent, Yeldari project 11 per cent, Siddheswar 26 per cent, Paingagga project 33 per cent, Manar 10 per cent and Vishnupuri da 97 per cent. Majalgaon and Manjara projects in Beed district and Sina Kolegaon in Osmanabad district still is at dead level.

The statistic showing that altogether 727 Million cubic miter (Mcum) liv stocks in medium, minor and Kt weirs in the region. Of them 450 (28 percent) Mcum water in 732 Dams while 197 (21 percent) Mcum water in 75 medium projects. A total of 11 Kt weirs on Godavari having 19 percent stocks. As many as 21 weirs on Manjara,Terna rivers have 51 per cent which totaling 34 Mcum water out of 66 Mcum of its full capacity, the statistic added.
