Mah Govt sanctions Rs 49,248 cr package for developmental works in Marathwada

The Maharashtra government today gave approval for allocation of Rs 49,248 crore for carrying out various developmental works over the next four years in the Marathwada region of the state. Making an announcement to this effect in a media briefing after a day-long meeting of the state Cabinet held here at divisional commissioner's office, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said after a gap of eight years, the state Cabinet in a special meeting discussed and decided to carry out various developmental works of Rs49,248 crore in the next four years.

The major share of these works included irrigation projects like Lower Dudhana, diversion of Krishna Valley water to Marathwada, Urdhav-Paingaganga and Kundalika, and creating water grid for drinking, industries as well as irrigation sector in the region, micro-irrigation project and water conservation, he said. The Cabinet also gave approval for completion of the railway line between Ahmednagar-Beed Parli and Wardha-Nanded by 2019, besides up gradation of state and national highways in the region, as well as the Aurangabad and Nanded airports. Other major decisions taken by the state Cabinet were setting up of a Seeds Park and Institute of Chemical Technology at Jalna, conversion of the Technical colleges at Jalna and Latur into Engineering colleges and setting up of a sports complex at Latur.

Apart from these, the Cabinet also gave its nod for extension of divisional commissioner's office to accommodate other government offices, a Safari Park in Aurangabad, Transport Hub near Aurangabad,raising of Green Battalion for afforestation in the Marathwada region, upgradation of Cancer Institute of Aurangabad as State Cancer Institute, allocation of funds for Aurangabad Smart City, Art Gallery at Osmanabad, up gradation of existing IT Park in Aurangabad, setting up of Textile Parks in Parbhani, Nanded and Beed districts, digging of bore wells in Hingoli district, farm ponds in the region under MGNERGA, development of tourism spots at Maishmal, Sulibhanjan and Ellora in Aurangbad district, construction of late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray memorial in Aurangabad, upgradation of electricity boards in rural and urban areas, establishment of late Gopinath Munde Gram Vikas Sanstha in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Transport hub and other works in the region, Mr Fadnavis said.MORE
