Mah Govt to solve all problems of Govt Medical College & Hospital of Aurangabad: Jaleel


All pending issues related to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) will be addressed soon, Aurangabad Central MLA Imtiaz Jaleel said here today. A high-level meeting, presided over by state Health Minister Deepak Sawant, was held in Mantralaya in Mumbai today to discuss the issues of city's government-run hospital. Besides Dr Sawant, Minister for Medical Education & Health Girish Mahajan, Environment & Aurangabad Guardian Minister Ramdas Kadam, Mr Jaleel and GMCH dean Dr Chandrakant Mhaske were also present at the meeting.

During this meeting, Mr Mahajan gave an assurance to Mr Jaleel that a special meeting to discuss the problems afflicting the GMCH, civil hospital, government-run dental and cancer hospitals will be held in Aurangabad next month, Mr Jaleel said in a statement here. The meeting also discussed about recruitment of staff for its newly-built super speciality urology building, which has not been in use since 2011, development of internal roads in the hospital and inauguration of civil hospital near airport. Dr Sawant informed that the government has okayed a proposal to recruit doctors and staff for the new civil hospital and the process for the same has already been started.

Mr Mahajan also said the government was in talks with a big private hospital for running a dialysis and kidney transplant centre at the urology building and an agreement would be signed soon, he informed. When Mr Jaleel brought to the notice of the ministers about poor patients being asked to purchase medicines from pharmacies outside the government hospitals in Aurangabad and demanded to treat this act as a crime, the minister assured the MLA that the budget for medicines for Aurangabad government hospital would be doubled,the statement added.UNI
