Marathas to take out 'Muk Morcha' in Mumbai on Jan 31

After getting overwhelming response to the silent march at different places across the state, the Maratha community has now decided to take out the 'morcha' on January 31 in Mumbai to press for their demands. Addressing the media person here, the organizers of the morcha said the first 'Maratha Kranti Muk Morcha' was taken out in this city on August 7 last year, after the disgusting incident of gangrape and brutal murder of a teenage girl belonging to the community at Kopardi village in Karjat taluka of Ahmednagar district on July 13. After that a series of similar morchas were taken out by the Marathas across the state, including in Nagpur during the winter session of the state assembly and handed over a memorandum of their demands to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and all the concerned government officials.

''Now we have decided to carry out another similar 'Muk Morcha' in Mumbai in which the members of the community are likely to participate from across the state and we will submit a memorandum of our demands to state Governor C Vidhyasagar Rao,'' they said and added that if the state government failed to fulfil their demands, then they would teach a lesson to the rulers in coming election. The main demands of the Marathas are the death penalty to rapists as early as possible, changes in Atrocity Act and reservation in education as well as government services for the members of the community.
