Sena's 'dhol bajao andolan' in Aurangabad

As per direction from Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, district Shiv Sena activists today held 'dhol bajao andolan' (protest by beating drums) in front of head office of Aurangabad District Central Coop Bank over their failure to implement the loan waiver scheme to farmers announced by the state government. Report from rest of the districts including Jalna, Nanded, Beed, Osmanabad, Latur, Hingoli and Parbhani of Mararthwada region stating that such agitation in front of respective district central banks has been held by the respective district Sena units at all district headquarters.

Sena ally of BJP in the state government has taken to the streets against its own government to back farmers in their demand for a loan waiver and jumped to take credit once it was sanctioned. In Aurangabad agitation was led by Aurangabad MP Chandrakant Khaire and Samparkpramukh Vinod Ghosalkar along with numbers of office bearers and party workers gathered in front of district bank head office situated at Adalat road and held agitation with beating drums to address their main demand to give list of waiver farmers and transparency while waving off loan of debt-ridden farmers.

The party delegation also handed over a memorandum to the chairman of district co-operative banks to release the list of farmers whose loans will be waived off. Mr Thackeray on Thursday met all Sena district chiefs and the party's contact points across the state to firm up the plan. He also instructed members from the Sena's consumer protection wing to sit outside the district banks to help farmers. However, after protests and strike by farmers across the state, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis last monthsanctioned Rs 34,022 crore as loan waiver for farmers. The scheme will benefit 89 lakh farmers in the state and make 40 lakh completely debt-free.
