Three-day Ijtema concludes in Aurangabad

The three-day-long state-levelIjtema-2018 concluded on Monday after a special prayer (duaa) foruniversal peace and brotherhood by Maulana Saad Saheb D B andseveral scholars, clerics and experts from across the country aswell as abroad. On the second day of Ijtema on Sunday evening, near about 5,000pairs of brides and grooms from across the country tied the nuptialknot in presence of more than 15 lakh Muslim participants, which wasthe record-breaking attendance as compared to the previous suchcongregations held in Malegaon and Dhule in the state, organizers claimed.

However, no untoward incident or disturbance was reported during thethree-day event due to proper planning and tight security arrangements. Ijtema had commenced on Saturday morning with Namaz-e-Fajr, followedby a series of lectures from different Muslim scholars and clerics,and similar programmes continued till late in afternoon. Five thousand volunteers had been pressed into service at variouslocations in the city, including railway stations and bus stands, toreceive and help the participants and look after traffic management. Police department had deputed 5,000 police personnel and drones tooversee the entire event.
