Shiv Sena leader Pradeep Jaiswal arrested, sent to judicial custody

Senior Shiv Sena leader and former MP, Pradeep Jaiswal, was arrested by city police on Monday,in connection of alleged ransacking of furniture in the Kranti Chowk police station here while demanding the release of three youths who were arrested by police in connection of recent riots in city. The Kranti Chowk police on Sunday night arrested the three youths from Rengatipura locality for their alleged involvement in recent clashes and filed cases against them. On getting the news of their arrest, Jaiswal then went to the police station and demanded the release of all the youths, but police refused to do so, police said.

Upon which, an heated argument ensued between the Sena leader andpolice officials. In a fit of rage, Jaiswal flung a glass off thetable and damaged few chairs inside the police station, they said.

Following which, police this afternoon arrested Jaiswal and bookedhim under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weaponsor means) of Indian Penal Code.

After the arrest of Jaiswal, security in the surrounding areas ofthe police station has been enhanced and it is said to be under control. Meanwhile, Jaiswal was produced before a local court which has senthim to judicial custody, sources added.
