Dr Bhagwat Karad appointed as president of Marathwada Statutory

Former mayor of Aurangabad andBJP state vice president, Dr Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad, was on Thursday appointed as president on the Marathwada Statutory Development Board (MSDB). Dr Karad told UNI that after recommendation of his name by the stategovernment for the post, Governor C Vidhyasagar Rao issued an orderof his appointment on June 20. Dr Karad, who is a senior leader of BJP, served as mayor and deputy mayor of Aurangabad and at present he is state vice president of BJP.

The post of president of MSDB was vacant since last seven years, after the end of the term of Madukarrao Chavan of the Congress party. Since then, the divisional commissioner of Aurangabad was handlingits additional charge. The Governor also appointed presidents for the Vidarbha and Western Maharashtra Statutory Development Boards, Chainsukh Sancheti andY P Jadhav, respectively, along with him, Dr Karad said. Dr Karad further said that after taking charge as president, he will call a meeting with all the eight district collectors, Zilla Parishad chief executive officers and elected representatives and will take a review of backlog of every sector including education,irrigation, roads and tourism, among others. He will later meet state Chief Minister and concerned ministers tofill up the backlog of the region, Dr Karad added.
