Revered Gopinath Munde remembered on 4th death anniversary across Maharashtra


The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday observed the fourth death anniversary of former Union Minister and the mass leader from Marathwada, Gopinath Munde, at different places in the region as well as across the state.

The main function was held at 'Gopinath Gad', memorial of Mr Munde constructed on the premises of Vaijnath Sugar factory at Parli in Beed district of Marathwada. Prominent dignitaries who attended the function included state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Udayan Raje Bhosale, Shivaji Raje Bhosale, Minister Vijay Deshmukh, Sadabhau Khot, Mr Munde's daughters -- Women & Child Welfare Minister Pankaja Munde and Beed MP Pritam Munde, all his relatives, all BJP MLAs from district and office-bearars of party among others.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr Fadnavis called Mr Munde as the son of soil and the leader of the masses, and said that he was one of the leaders who worked for the downtrodden. Mr Munde worked to eradicate the criminal activities in the state, the Chief Minister said and recalled his contribution to the state's cooperative sector. The function concluded at end of various programmes organised at the Gopinath Gad. 

Meanwhile, in Aurangabad city, the party workers this morning garlanded the photograph of late Mr Munde in BJP office and later in the evening paid tributes to him in the premises of Government Milk Dairy at Jalna road on behalf of Late Gopinath Smruti Samiti, sources in the party said. Reports received here from other seven districts in the region also stated that rich tributes were paid to the mass leader on his fourth death anniversary. The party had also organised various programmes like a tree plantation drive, kirtans, bhajans and blood donation camp, as a mark of respect to their late beloved leader.
