Gadkari directs depts to work on NHs, PM schemes

The Union Minister of Road Transport and irrigation Nitin Gadkari issued instruction to the concerned departments to take up various works incurring Rs 75000 crore under the Prime Minister Irrigation Scheme within the stipulated time period, today. He addressed the meeting organised at Rama Hotel to take review of construction of national highways and the works being done under the Prime Minister irrigation schemes. Gadkari issued informed that sanction was given for construction of 14.5 KM road incuring a cost of Rs 200 crore from Nagar Naka to Cambridge School.He also issued instruction to start process of acquiring land19000 hectare for making the Aurangabad- Jalgaon highway road so as to avoid accidents.

Underlining a need of solving problem of acute water shortage he asked to use sand and other minor minerals obtained from field lakes for the purpose. He informed that construction work of the bridge- cum Dam at 67 places will be completed. To fulfill the backlog of development in Marathwada various schemes will be implemented, he said. He took review of laying of various highways.

He informed that sanction for 1084 km roads in the Marathwada region incuring Rs 7726 crore was under consideration at the union government level.He also announced making of national highways to the length of 2348 km in Marathwada.
