Three-day "govt strike" begins in Marathwada

Three-day state wide strike call given by various state government employees unions to press their demands including implementation of seventh pay commission began across the eight districts of Marathwada region on Tuesday. Thousands of employees of various state government departments including revenue collector offices Tehsil office, Regional Transport Office (RTO), Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Setu suvidha kendra, Health department, Zila Parishad(ZP) schools, Corporation schools, Nagar Parishad schools, state excise department among others participated in the strike.


However, gazette officers union opt out from the strike after the state government announced to pay 14 months DA arrears with August salary. 

Due to the strike all the government offices and other establishments including schools were deserted in the entire region, reports various districts headquarters stated . 

In Aurangabad employees of the Government Medical College and Hospital(GNCH) held a demonstration and raised slogans against the state government for their failure to implement the seventh pay commission.

Due to the strike by the GMCH employees health services was affected and patients are facing inconvenience. Revenue department employees held a demonstration in front of district collector office.

Meanwhile, due to the participation of four lakh ZP primary teachers in the strike the state government has declared a holiday in 75,000 primary ZP schools across the state.
