Peace march to mark Mahatma Gandhi's birth to be taken out on Oct 2

City-based Royal Oaks WorldSchool will take out a peace march here to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2. Briefing about the event to media persons here on Sunday, School'sprincipal Michael James and head-mistress Priyanka Choube said that the peace march will be taken out from the Connaught Place in Cidcoarea of the city in the evening of Gandhi Jayanti day, in which students, their parents, and teachers among others will participate. The march will conclude after performing various dances and singing of Gandhiji's bhajans by students, they informed.

The aim of this peace march is to bring harmony among the people, they pointed. They further said, "We belive that the message of the Father of the nation was very simple yet most profound. It was that as Indians we are all one and all Indians are brothers and sisters. Gandhiji'sphilosophy of non-violence has resounded through the years as a means to attain peace.""We want our school students to imbibe this message and philosophy, which is eternal and stands the test of time," they noted.

"For real peace in the world, we should start educating our children from the beginning. We belive that patriotism and sense of national pride are vital for our children to grow into proud citizens of India," they said.

"Our rich heritage and ancient history make us one of the greatest nations in the world, and our children must develop an appreciation of this," they added.
