'Constitution Day' celebrated in Marathwada

The 'Constitution Day' was celebrated with fervor in entire Marathwada region on Monday. On this day in 1949, the constitution was adopted which later came into force on January 26, 1950.

In Aurangabad, city Mayor Nandkumar Ghodele, former minister Gangadhar Gade among several others political leaders and dalit organizations paid tributes to Dr Bhimrao R Ambedkar's statue at Bhandarkar gate, who is widely considered as the architect of Indian Constitution.

On the occasion of the constitution day, the social justice department of state government has appealed the masses across the state to read out preamble of the Indian Constitution. As per the social welfare department direction 'Constitution Week' will be celebrated between November 26 and December 2 across the schools, colleges and jails where constitution will be read out on behalf of colleges.

The whole Marathwada region witnessed rallies across the region by various social organisations from Kranti Chowk to Bhadakal gate, where the participants paid tributes to Dr Ambedkar. Lectures were also organized on the occasion at various places. Dr Ambedkar played a seminal role in the framing of the Indian Constitution as the chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly.
