Harsimrat Badal inaugurates mega food park in Maharashtra

Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Thursday said that BJP-led NDA government has boosted food processing industries in the country by approving projects related to the industry, which were sidelined by the previous Congress government. Speaking during the inauguration function of a mega food park built near Paithan town of the district, the minister said that "A huge sum of Rs 2000 crores has been allocated for food parks as ample employment opportunities are created when such a park is built.

" Ms Badal further said that "India is one of the world's largest milk producers. Still,the farmers die to starve as tonnes of produce is wasted every year due to non-availability of food parks,where the harvest can be preserved." Ms Badal,also a member of Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) blamed the UPA government for not constructing the 42 food parks proposed during its tenure.

"BJP constructed 15 food parks from 2014 to 2018 and by 2019 another 15 parks will be started across the nation,"said Ms Badal. "A provision of Rs 6000 crores has been sanctioned for the cold storage facility.The state of Maharashtra boasts of 109 food projects,55 cold storage facilities,and 3 mega food parks,"added the cabinet minister.
