Marathwada muslims celebrate Mawlid al-Nabawi

Muslims of eight districts of Marathwada region on Wednesday celebrated the birthday of the last Prophet of Islam, Prophet Muhammad. The festival known as Mawlid al-Nabawi in Arabic falls on the 12th day of Islamic month Rabi' al-awwal. To mark the day, Muslim community organized processions and social welfare programmes like blood donation camps in all the eight districts.

In Aurangabad, a grand procession namely, 'Julus-E-Muhammadi' was taken out from Shahganj Chaman, which passed through Raja Bazar, Nawabpura, Jinshi, Qaisar colony, Champa chowk, Chelipura, Deodi bazaar, Buddilane, City Chowk and Gandhi statue. The procession culminated with the organizers passing on the message of peace and communal harmony, after which a flag hoisting ceremony was held. Elaborate security arrangements were made in the region to avoid any untoward incident.
