NCP's Munde thanks Opposition parties for unanimous passage of Maratha quota bill

The leader of Opposition (LoP) Dhananjay Munde on Thursday extended his gratitude towards all the Opposition parties present in both the houses of the state legislature for whole-heartedly supporting the Maratha reservation bill. On Thursday,both the houses of the state legislature uniformly passed the Maratha reservation bill modeled on the recommendations of State Backward Class Commission.

Mr Munde in his statement said here on Thursday,"I thank all of Maratha community and supporters for fighting to get reservation to them. Meanwhile,the government had to bow down against the various protests carried out by agitated Maratha community."He further stated,"Soon after,the Chief Minister introduced the bill wich proposes 16 percent reservation to Maratha community under the 'Socially and Educationally Backward Class'(SEBC),all the opposition parties including NCP supported it and gave their approval immediately." "However,some of the Maratha sacrificed their lives for the cause,"added Mr Munde.

As Maratha quota issue is resolved,Mr Munde appealed to the government to now consider the Dhangar Samaj reservation issue and table the 'Dhangar report' submitted to state government by Tata Institute of Social Sciences
