Review 'drought' Central team arrive in Marathwada on Dec 5


A central team comprising high-level officials will arrive in drought-affected Marathwada region between December 5 and 8 to take stock of the situation. According to official sources,the team will arrive first in Mumbai and will visit selected parts of 47 districts which were declared drought affected. The team of officials will assess the situation in Marathwada and other affected parts of the state which were reeling under drought due to scanty rainfall.

The team is likely to hold a high-level review meeting with Divisional Commissioner officials here to discuss the present situation vis-a-vis availability of water, fodder camps, ground water level situation and measures taken to tackle the scarcity situation faced by the Marathwada region. After their completion of visits, the team will submit its report to the central government.

Notably, the state government has already announced drought in 151 districts across the state and sought package of Rs seven thousand crores from the central government to undertake measures for tackling drought in the state.
