Swami Vivekananda remembered on occasion of birth anniversary


On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a canvas portrait painting of Swami Vivekananda, hand-painted by Deepesh Shetkar, a hearing-impaired student, and Art and Craft Teacher of Sanjay School Higher Secondary and Vocational Section, was handed over to Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in the presence of Minister for Tourism, Manohar Ajgaonkar, Minister for Revenue Rohan Khaunte, Chief Secretary, Dharmendra Sharma, IAS, and staff of Secretariat, Porvorim, near the city on Friday.

The Chief Minister garlanded the portrait of Swami Vivekananda at Secretariat Office and in his speech appreciated the hard work of Deepesh Shetkar. Mr. Parrikar said that Government would try to find out such more artists in the field of art and painting and would give them an opportunity to display their paintings so that they could earn a livelihood. Chairperson of the Sanjay Centre for Special Education Goa, Porvorim and the President of Aastha's, Anand Niketan School, Guruprasad Pawaskar, Board Members of Sanjay Centre, Sagar Javdekar, Andrey Menezes, Vijay Shetye - Secretary students and teachers of Sanjay School, Porvorim, and Anand Niketan, Khorlim- Mapusa were also present for the inaugural function. The Chief Minister congratulated Sagar Javdekar and Guruprasad Pawaskar for coming up with such a good idea to have the portrait of Swami Vivekananda painted and having gifted it to the Secretariat Office as a token of gift and remembrance on this remarkable day. Mr. Parrikar also presented a certificate to Aastha's Anand Niketan School for Special Children, Khorlim Mapusa Goa as the Best NGO. The Chief Minister commended Anand Niketan for doing excellent work in the field of disability and said that it has become one of the renowned institutions in Goa. The board members of Anand Niketan - Rahul Mhambre and Sudhir Rivonkar- were also present.
